Nakato’s story is one of resilience, courage, and hope despite overwhelming challenges.
Her mother passed away while giving birth to her, and her father disappeared after learning of the pregnancy. Left without parental care, Nakato was lovingly taken in by her aunt, who is also called Nakato. Together, they struggled to survive on the streets, depending on the kindness of strangers for food and spending many nights sleeping in restaurant corridors.
A New Beginning
Today, Nakato and her aunt have been welcomed into the care of Akankwasa Children’s Center, where they have found safety, shelter, and renewed hope. Through the generous support of Iax, Meli, and Lillian, they now have a place to call home and access to basic necessities that were once beyond reach.
While their lives have improved significantly, their journey toward stability is far from over.
