Every Child Deserves Hope
Akankwasa Children Centre was founded out of compassion and a deep desire to restore hope to children living in difficult and vulnerable circumstances. What began as a simple act of caring for children in need has grown into a mission dedicated to transforming lives through love, protection, education, healthcare, and community support.
Many of the children we serve have experienced unimaginable hardships, including the loss of parents, abandonment, homelessness, hunger, neglect, and limited access to education and healthcare. These challenges inspired us to create a safe place where every child is valued, protected, and given the opportunity to build a brighter future.
How It All Began
Our journey started when we encountered children sleeping on the streets, living in unsafe environments, and missing the basic necessities that every child deserves. We could not ignore their cries for help.
Driven by faith, compassion, and the belief that every child deserves a chance to succeed, we began providing emergency support, including food, clothing, temporary shelter, and emotional care. As more children came into our care, the need continued to grow, leading to the establishment of Akankwasa Children Centre.
Growing Our Mission
Over the years, our work has expanded beyond providing immediate relief. Today, we support children and vulnerable families through a wide range of programs, including:
- Education sponsorship and school support
- Nutritious meals and feeding programs
- Healthcare and medical assistance
- Safe shelter and child protection
- Family and community outreach
- Emotional and spiritual support
- Life skills and personal development
Our goal is not simply to help children survive—we help them thrive.

Looking Ahead
Our vision for the future is to reach even more vulnerable children and strengthen families across Uganda. We continue to expand our programs, improve the quality of care we provide, and build partnerships that create lasting impact.
